Sometimes it happens to me when I scroll on Instagram, pinterest, or Google, to find an outfit that makes me stop and stare at it. And I don't stop just because the idea of the outfit is fantastic, but rather because it's generally a pairing that I wouldn't have thought is works in fashion. Raise your hand if you found yourself in a similar situation! So, if you like to defy fashion rules, today I prepared a list of 5 unusual fashion pairings that will make you look fabulous:
1. Fuchsia + Animal print
Unusual, isn't it? Sexy, colorful and CLEARLY catching attention, this pairing is truly delicious.
I paired this leopard print dress with my favorite fuchsia ankle boots, but also with this sleeveless jacket in the same color. The bold pink creates a nice contrast with the neutral color palette of the dress, which I love. The handbag contains the same type of print as the dress and the sunglasses. This pairing is bold, fierce and I just adore it.
2. Loungewear + High-end Accessories
During the pandemic, people learned to wear a lot more comfortable, sport-inspired outfits. Like they never did before. The two-piece loungewear suits have been trending for the past two months and I don't think people will give up on them soon. So, to make a huge contrast, you should add high-end accessories here and there. Branded watches together with a loungewear suit and platform sports shoes is a win-win combination. That works.
3. Denim + Denim
Mmmm, maybe it's not the most surprising combination, but it clearly defies all the outfits which contain only one denim piece. I just had to mention this, because, over the years the denim + denim pairing has been harshly criticized by various fashion publishers. But there you go, it works!
A denim jacket with your favorite jeans and sport shoes / strappy sandals will get you a cool outfit.
4. Floral Print + Polka Dots
I’m a huge fan of print pairings, but generally, I follow the same pattern / theme rule. For example, if I wear a striped blouse, the skirt will be striped too; you can see an example HERE. This time, the pairing between floral print and polka dots is outrageous in terms of harmony, but it works just fine. You can combine a floral print skirt with a romantic polka dot top and you will look fantastic!
5. A Long Layer on Top of a Long Layer
Here it is an unusual pairing that I would rather recommend to tall people, but also to petites with a few small adjustments. Simply pair a long skirt or a pair of culottes with a long jacket on top. In the case of tall people, a pair of pointed ballet flats or a pair of moccasins will perfectly complement the outfit. In the case of petite people, I would recommend a wide statement belt that cinches well around the waist and a pair of platform sandals.
Would you wear one of these pairings? And if yes, which one would you go for?
