In the past few years, the engagement photos have gone viral on the internet. The question is: how to take the best photos? It’s such a strong trend that some couples (including me and Darius) take the photos first and only after that they announce the big news. Don’t judge us! The engagement event is so special and memorable in any couple’s life that the photos play a huge role. For example, we were so excited when we got engaged in Greece that we didn’t take the best photos. We have 2 blurred images, one selfie with me having a red face and a photo showing my hand over a big portion of chicken. Not the best photos at all. The full story on how we got engaged in a beautiful Greek island can be found here.
Below, you can find the best tips and tricks on how to take the best engagement photos:
1. Find a good photographer
And when I say “good photographer”, I mean a person that makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera and lets you be natural in your own skin. A good photographer will come with the best ideas on how to pose, will make fun and will know how and when to capture the unique moments. We are fortunate enough to have my brother as a photographer and he’s the one that took these stunning pictures.
2. Find a fairytale place
I found this fairytale place quite simple. In my way to home from the job, there is a romantic little park called Luigi Cazzavillan surrounded by trees and with an elegant fountain decorated with angels in the middle. A fantastic place, there is no doubt! Among the most popular places you can choose, I would recommend the following: in the park, on a bridge, in a flower field, in the mountains or on the beach. Best to choose is a place that truly represents you as a couple.
3. Dress in a fabulous way
It’s very possible that this moment will be unique in your lives so I would recommend you to give all your best to create stunning outfits. First of all, take into account the place where you are going to shot. Secondly, choose classic clothing items such that, if you will see the pictures after 20 years, you will not look like you see some kind of soggy food. Last, but not least, choose pieces that tell stories and that fit you. Easy to say, hard to do. Send me a message if you think I could help you to choose the perfect outfit.
4. Take care of your nails
Girls, this one is special for you! The photographer definitely will take a close up picture of your engagement ring, so please, don’t forget to take care of your nails! Try to not use a neon nail polish or a festival blue nail polish. Choose instead a red, beige or blush nail polish.
5. Add surprising elements
There are elements that add a dynamic effect to the whole set of images. You could bring a bottle of champagne, balloons, little fireworks in case you take the photos at night, or flowers.
